Sue HuttonThe beautiful thing about mindfulness meditation is that there are so many layers to the practice – that blend into all the parts of our selves. It’s such a privilege and gift to share it with others. I love having conversations with everyone I work with; adults, youth, professionals- all of us on the journey - of how mindfulness helps change the way we live our lives, with a spirit of acceptance and compassion for ourselves exactly as we are.

Social Worker and Mindful ParentTeacher

Sue Hutton has been practicing formal Mindfulness meditation since 1985. She has studied meditation with teachers in India, Canada, and the US. Sue has over 20 years experience as a social worker, and has infused her social work practice with mindfulness since the 1990’s, and then focused her post-graduate MSW research on mindfulness. Sue received her professional training in the US in delivery of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn in 2007. Sue leads mindfulness groups with Wellspring, social workers, the disability community, and is currently an investigator with a Ministry of Community Social Services-funded research team exploring Mindfulness as a tool for parents with youth with intellectual disabilities/autism. Sue deeply enjoys the experience of helping to bring mindfulness to the everyday applications of real life in our homes, relationships, and community.

Lois LorimerLois Lorimer Nunn is a teacher-librarian who taught for over 25 years with the Toronto District School Board at R. H. King Academy where she promoted and supported the Mindful Minute and Mindfulness curriculum for students. She received a SmartEducation certificate from the U.B.C. program developed to introduce stress management and resilience for teachers.  As part of her Master of Education degree at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Lois studied with John P. Miller, learning the importance of mindfulness and meditation practice in the classroom and for teacher self-care.  Her MBSR training was with Dianna Last. In 2015, she was awarded a TDSB Award of Excellence for her work in mental health literacy, and mindful library initiatives. Lois is an experienced educator who has delivered workshops to teachers, parents and students and has observed the benefits of mindfulness for the school community.   

Arunas AntanaitisAs a retired teacher with 30 years experience in the classroom, I have an understanding of the issues and challenges that educators and students have. I am committed to bringing mindfulness-based programs to school communities providing a foundation for school success initiatives.

Associate Teacher/Facilitator


Arunas Antanaitis is the co-founder of Mindful Solutions for Change, introducing mindfulness-based skills and tools for optimal living for educators, organizations and individuals. Arunas is also an Associate Teacher/Facilitator with Mindfulness Everyday, a registered charitable organization experienced in implementing mindfulness programs for both students and educators. He is a Mindfulness Meditation Specialist trained at the University of Toronto Factor-Inwentash School Of Social Work. Arunas is a trained facilitator of the Mindful Ambassador Council program with Mindfulness Without Borders, which delivers social emotional learning to high school students. He trained with Dekyi Lee Oldershaw at the Centre for Compassion and Wisdom, and received certification as a facilitator in the 16 Guidelines, Transformative Mindfulness Methods and the 5 Tibetan Yogas.

Alissa Sherman

Parent Coach /Mindful Parenting Teacher

As a Parent Coach, Alissa Sherman uses her mindfulness training and psychology background to empower families to cultivate inner well-being, peace and fulfillment. As a parent of two spirited boys, Alissa learned to enter into a state of mindful presence and consciousness in order to be the mother she always wanted to be.  Her journey into mindful parenting has transformed her relationship with her children and today she is committed to helping others to learn to do the same. 
Alissa studied Psychology at the University of Western Ontario. Her current focus has been on merging Western psychology with the teachings of Eastern philosophy. Alissa has completed numerous workshops in MBSR and MBCT (effective, evidence-based methods for reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression) and incorporates mindfulness into her daily way of life.
She has worked at CAMH (the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health) and has recently completed workshops with Tara Brach, Dr Daniel Siegel and Dr. Shefali. Alissa focuses on helping parents use mindfulness skills to become more self aware and parent from a place of calm, compassion and choice.

Jeremy Finkelstein is the founder of Mindful Living, a psychotherapeutic mindfulness-based meditation group for beginners and MBCT/MBSR graduates and a mindfulness-based facilitator for Mindfulness Everyday and The Centre for Mindfulness Studies. He has done facilitator training through the University of Massachusetts medical school and The Centre for Mindfulness Studies. Part of faculty at the CMS, Jeremy runs workshops for teens and leads silent retreats. With Mindfulness Everyday, Jeremy facilitates The Mindful Edge: Stress Reduction and Life Strategies for Teens.

Rose Mina Munjee is an Applied Mindfulness Meditation Specialist, Hatha/Restorative/Therapeutic Yoga Instructor, Craniosacral Therapist, BMATH, MBA. Rose has had a mindfulness practice for over 12 years, having first been introduced to meditation and yoga during an MBSR (Mindfulness Based Meditation for Stress Reduction) program.  She has taught yoga and mind-body awareness to people of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of mobility, with a focus on breath awareness, cultivating presence, and stress reduction. Rose has earned her certification in the Applied Mindfulness Meditation Specialist program at The University of Toronto Faculty of Social Work.  Rose also participated in the Mindful Society Conference at the University of Toronto in 2015.  Rose practices and teaches applied mindfulness meditation and contemplative practices to enhance daily living and support transformation. She integrates therapeutic and restorative yoga as well as craniosacral therapy in her work. Her teaching style is influenced by insight-based Mindfulness Meditation and Zen Buddhism, as well as Hatha and Restorative Yoga with Therapeutics, Philosophy, and Chinese Medicine.  She has taught in retreat, studio, educational (junior high and high school), and corporate settings including Spiritfest Costa Rica, various Mindfulness retreats, Hard Candy, Octopus Garden, Yoga Lounge, Cavaluzzo Law, Bombardier, IBM, Fairview Community Services, Flemingdon Neighbourhood Services, 519 Community Centre, YMCA, University of Toronto, Aga Khan Microfinance Agency, Daniels Spectrum, and Woodbridge High School.  Finally, she has a consulting practice in Information Systems Design, Data Analysis, and Process Change Management.

For the past 20 years, Elaine Smookler has used the exploration of her own mindfulness practice to help individuals, schools, organizations and businesses develop mindfulness in everyday life.  Elaine is on faculty at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies where she teaches the introductory workshops and teen programs. Her work in mindfulness includes Facilitator of The Mindfulness Project at Sick Kids hospital, teaching on the web to corporate America through e-Mindful and key-note addresses on mental health for public schools. As a professional performer, writer and teacher she uses mindfulness as the subject of her work and is the singing host of Mindful Martinis, an innovative mindfulness class set at the Gladstone Hotel. She has contributed to a variety of publications and projects on the subject of mindfulness and continues to practice to help individuals, schools, organizations and businesses develop mindfulness in everyday life.

Educator and Artist -Victoria, BC

Bonnie Alexander B.Ed is a passionate educator and artist in Victoria, BC with a focus on art education, teaching English as a second language, and working with students with mental health challenges. She completed the Introduction to Mindfulness for Educators program at The Centre for Mindfulness Studies and is excited to integrate art, drama, and movement to her mindfulness tool kit. Having practiced mindfulness and yoga for over 20 years, as well as attending many meditation retreats she is excited to begin developing mindfulness programs for children and teens in BC.

Educator and Artist -Victoria, BC

Anastasia Andrews currenlty works as a teacher in theGreater Victoria School District #61 in Victoria, B.C.  She graduated from the Faculty of Education with Distinction and specializations in both Art and Social Studies/History in 2011.  She also loves working with students from all over the world as an ESL/ELL teacher.  Anastasia is currently working on her Special Education Diploma through the University of Victoria.
Prior to becoming a teacher she was an Educational Assistant for almost two decades, working collaboratively with students with exceptionalities, parents, administration, and teachers within a variety of inclusive educational settings.  Prior to working in education, she worked with adults with exceptionalities in the Community Living movement of the 1990s.    
Recently, Anastasia completed the “What Really Matters in Teaching Mindfulness in Education” course with Heidi and Steve in Toronto (July 2014) and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program at Royal Roads with Patricia Galaczy (Fall 2014).  Learning is a lifelong process and Anastasia will continue to enhance and embody her own meditation and mindfulness practices.
